May the 4th be with you: Celebrating Star Wars Toys

A long time ago in our childhood way back in the seventies and eighties, we had Star Wars toys! Adults are welcome to celebrate May the 4th at the library with a viewing of the documentary The Plastic Galaxy, followed by a show and tell. Please feel free to bring up to five of your favorite Star Wars memorabilia items to share with the group.

Tuesday, 5/14, 6:30-7:30 in the Library
We are pleased to welcome local author Ona Gritz to discuss her new book Everywhere I Look, a beautifully rendered memoir of sisterhood, longing, true crime, and family secrets. In 1982, twenty-five year old Angie Boggs, pregnant with her second child, was brutally murdered, along with her husband and infant son. Ill-equipped for the horror of that violence and the enormity of her loss, Angie’s sister Ona, a college sophomore, felt numb. She also felt deeply ashamed of her inability to grieve. But shame, like her sister’s absence, was something Ona knew well. For as long as she could remember, she’d felt ashamed of being her parents’ blatantly favored child. The disabled daughter they’d coddled and protected while they alternately punished and neglected Angie and finally sent her away. It wasn’t until thirty years after the murders, both their parents gone and Ona nearly twice the age Angie was allowed to reach, that she developed the courage and a detective’s compulsion to hear all she could about her sister’s turbulent life and unthinkable death. The result is a profoundly moving reckoning and love letter. *Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.*

Gather ‘round the table, meet other seniors, and flex your brain muscle… while playing modern hobby board games. No prior experience necessary; just bring your enthusiasm. Local game lover, Bonnie Neubauer, will teach you all the rules and oversee play from start to declaring a winner.
Third Tuesdays at 10 am — please register for each date you plan to attend.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) lived only a brief 35 years, yet during this time he was destined to experience great professional acclaim as well as deep personal loss. His story, life, and music have become legend, enriching the lives of countless generations. To many musical historians he has been presented as a simple-minded child possessed of a miraculous musical gift, but the truth is much more complicated and exciting. Come meet Mozart through excerpts of his personal letters and his music as we discover not only the ‘man behind the myth’, but also the genius who still brings musical joy to the world!
